This accredited Makeup Artistry and Client Care course is designed as a pathway toward Certificate III in Beauty Services. This course provides a strong foundation in the fundamental principles of beauty and makeup, equipping students with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to confidently design and apply makeup. Throughout the course, you will develop industry-relevant skills through accredited units that supports your goal of becoming a fully qualified makeup artist or be used towards your goal of becoming a beauty Therapist. This course is suitable for school leavers, career changers, return-to-work learners, or anyone that would like to enter the world of beauty and makeup as a career. This course is popular and the demand for makeup artists and beauty therapists with good communication and presentation skills are very high.

What You Will Learn
  • Greeting and preparing clients for salon services
  • Complying with health and hygiene regulations and requirements
  • Client consultations, providing treatment plans and rebooking clients into salon software booking system
  • Analyse photography context and apply makeup accordingly to meet the brief
  • Design makeup plan – record and confirm makeup plan with client, photographer and stylist as required
  • Recommending makeup products and demonstrate techniques to maintain makeup
  • Provide advice for makeup removal and recommend makeup removal products
  • Identify skin type and conditions and match skin colour, tone and undertone
  • Identify contraindications
  • Identify face shapes, eye and lip shapes for suitable makeup application
  • Applying beautiful makeup from a daytime look to an evening look
  • Applying false lashes
  • Provide customer service and respond to client complaints

Assessment

You will complete a range of practical and knowledge-based assessments, including:

Entry Requirements

There are no formal requirements to enrol in this course, just a willingness to learn and commit to the time needed to complete this course and the assessments.
However, you should have:

  • Basic English language and comprehension skills
  • Basic numeracy skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • The ability to understand the learning material
  • The ability to submit assessments online
Course Materials

You will need:

  • Your own basic makeup kit or: Various Professional Makeup Student starter kits and Makeup Artist Brush kits are available for purchase exclusively through Parramatta Community College
  • Included: Access to Skin Deep learning materials & assessments
  • Students must wear clean and respectful clothing. Wear closed-in shoes and hair tied back. Note: Appearance plays a big part in this industry
  • Makeup tools will be included to use in class
